I only expected this to be a fun Summer comic book flick and I got what I expected. I knew it going to meet the high standards of other great comic book films and okay. I too really enjoyed the relationship between Rogers and Peggy. It was sad mostly because they as characters have time to develop their relationship. No time for love when fighting in a war. SPOILER what made that the scene near the end emotional. I thought it was well handled.
